Outdoor and landscape lighting installation covers exterior lighting for pathways, gardens, architectural features, and security purposes – properly wired, weatherproofed, and installed to handle exposure to the elements year-round. Outdoor electrical work has different requirements than interior installations, since everything needs to be rated for outdoor use and protected against moisture.
This is a good investment if you want to improve your home's curb appeal and highlight landscaping or architectural features after dark, if poor exterior lighting is creating safety or security concerns around your property, if you're adding outdoor living space – a patio, deck, or entertainment area – that needs functional and ambient lighting, or if existing outdoor lighting has failed or was never properly installed to code and weatherproofing standards to begin with.
We start with a lighting plan based on what you're trying to achieve – security lighting prioritizes coverage and motion activation, while landscape accent lighting focuses on highlighting specific features like trees, pathways, or architectural details. Installation means running properly rated outdoor wiring, often requiring burial to appropriate depth for underground runs, installing weatherproof fixtures and connections throughout, and wiring everything back to a switch, timer, or smart control as needed. We use GFCI protection on all outdoor circuits, which is both a code requirement and a genuine safety necessity given the exposure to moisture outdoor electrical work involves.
Cost depends on the number of fixtures, how much wiring needs to run and whether it requires trenching for underground runs, and the fixture types chosen. Properties in Wilton, CT with larger yards or more extensive landscaping typically need more wiring runs and fixtures to achieve full coverage.
